I uninstalled pdf24 creator from my system and installed adobe std instead. but when I tried to print pdf format document from some app, this app still defaulted to pdf24 instead of adobe pdf even after it was removed. how is this possible?

Hmm hard to say. The installer removes the app completely and should then no longer be an option for print. If this is still the case., try a reboot after uninstallation.
You can also use both applications together and you can assign a default app for PDF files if you like. Use the context menu (Open with entry) to change the default app for a file type.
