There is a pdf24.exe service process that waits for new print jobs and a user process that receives the print job from the service, so that tueh user can do something with the new file.
2023-12-05 at 15:16 in reply to: Massive quality loss after using the option to black PDF files #63396Stefan ZieglerKeymasterThere is a setting option with the name "blackenSecurity.dpi". Here you can set the DPI value that is used for blackening. The default value is 150. This value can be created as a DWORD in the registry path HKLM\SOFTWARE\PDF24 or HKCU\SOFTWARE\PDF24.
The option is described in the manual:
https://creator.pdf24.org/manual/11/#48-registry-settings-related-to-pdf24-toolboxIf you increase the DPI value, the quality of the page should improve, but this will also increase the file size. A lower value results in lower quality and a smaller file size.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterCan you send me screenshots or a screencast to forum@pdf24.org so that I can see the problem?
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterPlease send such a tiff file which is not working to forum@pdf24.org. Then I can see what happens. If the file is large, it's better to share the file via Google Drive or a different file sharing service.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterHi, currently there is now way to pre-scale an added signature. What you can try currently is the following: When you import, you could use a smaller image which then results in a smaller signature. I've added this to our TODO and we will see what we can do here.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterPDF24 Creator can do that. Just use the merge tool in the toolbox or open the Creator and merge your files there by using the "Zipper merge icon" in the toolbar.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterHi, PDF24 OCR command line is described here: https://creator.pdf24.org/manual/11/#101-command-line
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterPlease send a test file to forum@pdf24.org so that we can have a look.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterPlease send the file cmd_7997296_2116800774.json to forum@pdf24.org so I can take a look at it. .json files are basically not executable files.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterPDF24 Creator itself does not require the Internet, as the software processes files offline on the computer where the software is installed. So files do not leave your computer.
To execute the commands often run other apps that are included in PDF24.
Can you give more information about DNS service, more information about what Comodo displays information?
If you use PDF24 OCR, then it is so that the language files are loaded from the PDF24 download servers, because to deliver all the language files with would be too big. Here then the Internet is needed, but the actual OCR recognition then but runs locally on the PC.
When starting some apps it is also tried to access the internet, because some of the apps have such small banner areas that are loaded from the internet, but if there is no internet, then that is not bad, then this area simply can not be updated.
Update requests also need internet, but without internet the request doesn't go through and then updates aren't pointed out.
But the fact is that PDF24 Creator is our offline PDF solution, because not everyone can or may process files online.
2023-07-31 at 16:00 in reply to: Poor print quality when printing on real paper through PDF24 #63310Stefan ZieglerKeymasterHi, please save a print that causes this issue as a PDF file in the PDF24 Assistant and send this PDF to forum@pdf24.org so that I can analyze it.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterPDF24 Reader changes between the latest version and version 11.12.1 are:
PDFium updated to BRANCH chromium/5846
- Faster text selection
- Jump targets now better visible
- Printing multiple PDFs via command line
- PDF24 Reader now takes into account the DPI of the monitor
Not many changes. Hard to tell which one is causing the problem. Only the PER_MONITOR_DPI_AWARE change affects the start behavior of the reader. Can this be a problem for you?
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterWhich PDF24 Reader version works for you?
Error is caused by NtUserSetWindowsHookEx. Do you have a security application installed which causes this issue?
Is it a plain Windows Server 2012 R2 version or do you have installed any other software which would be problematic here?
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterWith all PDF files or with a specific one? If for a specific one, please send the file to forum@pdf24.org for further investigation.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterHi, today we have released PDF24 Creator 11.13.2. The new version contains Ghostscript 10.01.2. Please update to PDF24 Creator 11.13.2 in order to fix this issue.
2023-06-20 at 10:39 in reply to: pdf24-DocTool.exe crashes with -noProgress option on some files #63238Stefan ZieglerKeymasterI tried this because but I do not get the error. Please send me a test file and the configuration of your profile to forum@pdf24.org so that I can investigate further.
2023-06-16 at 07:34 in reply to: Can I merge data from a spreadsheet or CSV file into a PDF document? #63233Stefan ZieglerKeymasterI put this on TODO. We will see what we can offer here in the near future.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterRe-install and enable the new shell extension DLL. Then right-click the files you want to merge and select pdf24->combine/merge. If you do not select the new shell extension dll, then there is no cascaded menu in the context menu, but the old variant which should open the PDF24 files UI.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterPlease send me a sample file to forum@pdf24.org. I'll then add a task for this. Dis affects the split tool. We already have another feature on our TODO, split by size, and I think we can add both feature in one go.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterPlease try the last version. This should be able the keep annotations.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterHi, all version of the software can be downloaded from this site:
https://creator.pdf24.org/listVersions.phpStefan ZieglerKeymasterHi, I would say that PDF Readers always use a white background when drawing pages or page contents. Otherwise, transparent PNGs are supported by PDF24.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterNo, i can not recommend a software and you probably won't get much for free, because editing text is not easy and so we don't have a solution ready here yet.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterThe problem is the following:
If REMOVE=WebView2 is used alone, the MSI installer deselects all components. To solve the problem, the command must be the following:
pdf24-creator-11.10.1.msi AUTOUPDATE=No DESKTOPICONS=No FAXPRINTER=No REGISTERREADER=No ADDLOCAL=ALL REMOVE=WebView2 /qn
The difference is ADDLOCAL=ALL. This selects all components and just removes webview2.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterWe'll look into this as soon as possible and we'll fix the problem if we can reproduce it.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterHi, we know, this is still on our TODO and we will add this feature as soon as possible.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterThis is still on our TODO. We work on this issue.
2023-02-10 at 09:45 in reply to: pdf24-DocTool.exe crashes with -noProgress option on some files #63089Stefan ZieglerKeymasterI have opened a ticket for this so we can try to reproduce this problem.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterCommand above changed, should be pdf24-DocTool.exe and not pdf24-ocr.exe
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterThis command should work:
pdf24-DocTool.exe -applyProfile -profile user/MYPROFILE -outputFile "c:\PDF\output.pdf" "C:\PDF\1.pdf"
The prefix user/xxxx specifies profiles you have added as a user. If you have added a profile named "testprofile" then you can access it with user/testprofile.
