The next version 8.9.0 does no longer have the embedded file explorer. We have removed this component because we no longer want to implement a custom file explorer. We have improved interaction with the windows explorer and we focus on the pdf file assembling part. No we have more room in the app and this is great because you now can see more pages.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterHello, the new Creator no longer has the embedded file explorer at all. We have removed this component because it's a bit limited compared to the windows explorer. The Creator of the next version only has the right part of the older GUI, just to merge, remove, move, delete, .. pages. There are now some more tools to import files to the creator that makes working quicker. As the file explorer is removed now, there is now no option to add your feature request.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterPlease submit test files and a short list of steps that reproduce your issue and then that to forum@pdf24.org so that we can investigate further.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterProbably fixed with the next version that will be released in a few days.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterDo you have a sample file and a short instruction that you can send to forum@pdf24.org so that we can investigate?
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterThe PDF24 Creator has the paper and overlay option as seperate pages in the options tree of the save as dialog. Choose paper to underlay, and overlay to overlay.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterTry to use our online tool that you can find here:
https://tools.pdf24.org/en/webpage-to-pdfThis often gives better results.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterHi, you can't join signed documents. This invalidates the signatures. You really can not do that, because think about that. It would mean, that the signed document would have been changed afterwards and that should not be, because this document is now not that, what was signed before.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterChange the settings in the Save As dialog and uncheck the preserve annotations option.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterThe path
HKLM\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\PDFPrint\Profiles\fo
is for x64 machines and the path for x86 ones isHKLM\SOFTWARE\PDFPrint\Profiles\fo
. Windows does some mapping here.Stefan ZieglerKeymasterI do not understand. What do you do exactly and what do you want do do?
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterNormally changing the location to the new one and saving the profile again is all what you need to do. What version of the software do you use?
For debug, you could also open the creator, load a file and then save it and in the save dialog, you can set a paper file and continue saving. This should combine the paper file and if that works, this should also work via a pdf printer.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterHmm, hard to say, did you try to restart your PC?
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterThis issue is on our list and marked for version 8.8.2.
Update:
We have fixed this issue and version 8.8.2 brings the fix.Stefan ZieglerKeymasterDrag and Drop conversion automates the following steps:
1. open the file in the default reader
2. print on the pdf printer
3. load the pdf in the UISometimes it can happen, that pdf24 is unable to change your default printer to the PDF24 printer in order to convert the files. If this happens, the file is printed on your default printer.
Solution:
Change your default printer and use your PDF24 PDF printer as default. This normally helps here.Stefan ZieglerKeymasterPDF standard = PDF/A1
Color model = CMYK
Color conversion = CMYKNd Select your ISOcoated_A2 file in the PDF/A settings.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterYes you can prevent that. Just use
REGISTERREADER=No
as state in the initial post.Stefan ZieglerKeymasterThe PDF24 installer does not change the default printer in Windows. We just install a new printer in your system, we we do not set it to default. The reason must be another.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterDas kann ich mir kaum vorstellen, dass alles in ein Bild gewandelt wird. Senden SIe mir doch bitte einmal Testdateien an forum@pdf24.org, damit ich diese untersuchen kann.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterPlease send me the file to forum@pdf24.org, so that we can analyse this issue.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterOK, can you send me test files and a short list of steps to forum@pdf24.org so that we can reproduce your issue? Then we can investigate further and hopefully fix this issue.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterThe auto rotate option should help here. This option rotates pages automatically. Do you disable this option? Ensure that this option is enabled in the Save As dialog.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterDo you use multiple screens? Could be that the window is simply not visible due to misplacement. If you use multiple screens, try with one.
Otherwise try to delete settings under the registry path HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PDFPrint. Delete settings which starts with Creator.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterThe shellprint command just uses the ShellExecute Function from the Windows API with the "print" operation. What follows than is not up to PDF24.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterIs the printer configured to save automatically? How is you configuration actually? What do you try to do?
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterHow large is the file? You could also test with two or three files to see what happens. You could also try to reproduce the PDF's by printing them on the PDF printer. This often fixes small errors in PDF files.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterThere is normally not a restriction.
What documents do you merge? All PDF's? Merging PDF's should normally run quickly, at least for most PDF's.
Merging is done via Ghostscript. You can open a console via F12 and there you can see a little more information about the process.
If you do not merge PDFs, then it can take longer, because each file must be converted to PDF first.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterNo, not with the screenshot tool that is bundled with the PDF24 Creator. We had such a feature in mind, but that is not that easy to implement.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterI think the Acrobat Reader had a bug. Ever tried with the current Acrobat reader?
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterYou can remove a PDF password very easily with PDF24. You can do that online and offline. Our online password removal tool is located here: https://tools.pdf24.org
To remove a PDF password with the PDF24 Creator do the following:
1. Open the protected PDF file with a PDF reader
2. Print this file on the PDF24 PDF printer. This produces a password free PDF files which you can use further.
