Hello,
the built-in PDF24 updater can only install an update if the signed-in user is a member of the Administrators group. Otherwise it asks for administrator rights. This cannot be changed.
An update is simply the regular setup of the new version, installed over the existing installation. So you can run updates the same way as your other PowerShell commands, as long as they run with administrator rights (e.g. as SYSTEM):
- Download the installer of the new version. The file name contains the version and the architecture, e.g. https://download.pdf24.org/pdf24-creator-11.31.1-x64.exe (also available for
x86 and arm64, and as .msi). The current version is listed at the top of the changelog: https://creator.pdf24.org/changelog/en.html
- Run it silently, e.g.:
pdf24-creator-11.31.1-x64.exe /VERYSILENT /NORESTART
If the clients should no longer look for updates themselves because you distribute them centrally, add /NOUPDATE once. This sets the registry value UpdateMode to 2, and later updates keep it (since version 11.27.0). With the MSI package, the auto-update is disabled by default (AUTOUPDATE=No).
