problem converting DOC to PDF

An hour ago PSF 24 stopped converting DOC files to PDF. When I drop a file into the window and press convert, the square underneath starts spinning and spinning and spinning, but nothing else happens. I tried installing the newest version, but nothing changed except a'm now also getting an ominous error message "Wait for sink mutex error"

What to do??
