When I try to convert an MSG (saved email) file to PDF, by right-clicking the file and then choosing PDF 24 > Convert to PDF, I get this error:

    "Error while converting to PDF
The file 'test.msg' could not be printed on the PDF printer to convert it to PDF. There is probably no program installed or registered that can open and print this file type.
Please perform the conversion manually. Open the file with a suitable program and print it on the PDF24 PDF printer."

I'm not able to use the online version or print each one to PDF manually because I need to convert large volume of MSG files and keep the PDF file name the same as the MSG file name.

I've tried this on the new and old Outlook desktop apps, and tried it on a different PC with different accounts etc.

    Other troubleshooting:

Confirmed manual printing from Outlook to PDF24 PDF Printer works.

Confirmed PDF24 Creator is on the latest version.

Repaired Microsoft Office installation with no change.

    Verified .msg association:
    .msg = Outlook.File.msg.15

    Verified Outlook open verb:
    OUTLOOK.EXE /f "%1"

    Verified Outlook print verb:
    OUTLOOK.EXE /p "%1"

Confirmed HKCR\Outlook.File.msg.15\shell\print\command exists and is correctly configured.

Tested Outlook print command directly (OUTLOOK.EXE /p file.msg) and confirmed it prints successfully.

Confirmed right-click Print functionality for .msg files works.

Checked default printer configuration during troubleshooting.

    Hello,

thank you for the detailed troubleshooting, it helped. Your setup is fine, this is an error in PDF24 Creator 11.31.0 and 11.31.1. For MSG files, "Convert to PDF" uses Outlook's print command (OUTLOOK.EXE /p). In these versions, PDF24 closed the Outlook it had started before Outlook could print, so no print job arrived and the error message appeared.

This is fixed for the next version. In addition, "Convert to PDF" will then convert MSG files directly through Outlook instead of printing them, and the PDF will get the same name as the MSG file. This needs the classic Outlook for Windows. If that does not work (for example with only the new Outlook), PDF24 falls back to printing as before.

For converting many files without any dialogs, the command line of pdf24-DocTool.exe is described in the manual: https://creator.pdf24.org/manual/11/#11110-convert-to-pdf
