Please give step by step directions as to how to undo highlighting that has been erroneously highlighted.
Right-Click the highlightend text and then use the option from the context menu.
Do not select the text. Right click as answered above and choose the "none" option.

thank you, kbpdf. In the current PDF24 Reader the entry is called Delete: right-click the highlight (without selecting text) and choose Delete at the bottom of the menu.
Online you can remove highlights with https://tools.pdf24.org/en/annotate-pdf: open the PDF, click the highlight and click the trash can Delete annotation in the small bar next to it (or press the Delete key). Then save the PDF.
