Hi, Is it possible to create an index to a multi page PDF and have a link, such as a hyperlink, from the index to a page, then another link back from the page to the index? Thanks.

2023-06-16 at 13:46 #63236Stefan ZieglerKeymasterHello, can you explain it in a bit more detail? At the moment I don't know what exactly you mean.
2023-06-16 at 13:58 #64523floatingboaterParticipantTo Explain further. I have a multi page PDF with song lyrics, each song is one page. I have used PDF sam to create it and it also automatically creates an index to each song (each page) at the front of the document. Clicking on any song on the index page will take me straight to that song. However I need a way to quickly get back the song page to the Index page at the front of the document. I have been told that a bookmark might work but I don't know how to do this. Can you help please?
2023-06-16 at 14:42 #64524Stefan ZieglerKeymasterAre you looking for the PDF Merge tool which you can find here?
https://tools.pdf24.org/en/merge-pdfThere you can use the option to to create bookmarks based on file names.

What I don't understand is how to link them to an index or table of contents. I have an Index already which takes me to any page but what I would like is to do it in reverse, to go from the song page to the index page. How can I do that?

you can add such a link yourself with the Link tool in Annotate PDF: https://tools.pdf24.org/en/annotate-pdf (also in Edit PDF: https://tools.pdf24.org/en/edit-pdf)
- Open your PDF there and choose the Link tool.
- On a song page, draw a box over the spot that should be clickable (for example a short text "Index" that you add first).
- In the link window choose "Page" and enter the page number of your index page (or choose the index under "Bookmark" if your PDF has a bookmark for it).
- Repeat this for the other song pages and save the PDF.
A simpler way without a link on every page: give the index page a bookmark, for example with https://tools.pdf24.org/en/bookmark-pdf . Then you can jump back to the index at any time from the bookmarks panel of your PDF viewer.
