Hello,
a checked box means allowed. All boxes are checked by default, so to forbid something, remove the check mark.
In the PDF24 Toolbox (Protect PDF):
- Enter an Owner password. This is the password for the permissions; keep it, you need it if you want to change the permissions later.
- Leave User password empty. The recipient can then open and read the file without a password.
- Remove the check marks at Modification of content, Assemble document, Copying of contents and, if you like, Commenting and Fill in forms. Leave Printing checked if the recipient may print.
When you save in the PDF24 Creator with Save as, the same is on the page Security of the PDF format: check Use security settings, enter the Password for encryption (the owner password) and remove the check marks at Edit, Restructure and Copy text and images under Permissions. These settings are not available for PDF/A and PDF/X.
Please note: permissions are rules that PDF programs are expected to follow. Most PDF readers and converters respect them, but they do not encrypt the content against someone who can open the file, and not every program respects them. So they make copying and converting to Word harder, but cannot completely prevent it.
