If so how?Thanks
2010-10-05 at 12:38 #525pdt-maxMemberI have a word document with hyperlinks to other files and also links to other chapters in the same document.
When I use the PDF24 online tool the links are also converted so that I can use them when I use my Acrobat reader to view the document.
However, when I use the downloadable version 2.8.5 the links are not converted if the file path is too long. The links to other chapters in the same document doesn't work either.
Does anyone have an answer to why this is? I would prefer to use the downloadable version if possible.
Thanks!

There are some possibilities to submit this information. We are work on that to add this feature in future versions.

2011-07-22 at 00:44 #3480PDF24Guestmaintaining live web links after conversion to pdf
is it possible to maitain/add live weblinks to a pdf document. so that if i put a link/url in a word document and convert it to a pdf the link is clickable when i open the pdf in a reader?
2012-02-06 at 13:37 #3623AnonymousGuestCurrently links are lost when using PDF24 Creator to create new PDF files.
If you add links in the text of a PDF file, e.g. http://www.pdf24.org, then this text will be clickable when opened with adobe reader.
But real links based on annotations inside a PDF are currently not possible with most PDF writers.
We work on solutions on how to solve this problems.

If not, is there a chance for some kind of sponsored development?

We downloaded and installed PDF24 for Desktop version. When creating the PDF via the PDF24 for Desktop version, the links we embeded in our Word document do not work in the PDF document. They are unclickable.
When we uploaded and converted the same document into a PDF via your website, the links embeded in our Word document work perfectly in the PDF document received via Email.
Is there any setting which has to be made in the PDF24 for the Desktop version, so that when the PDFs are created the links automatically work?
Any help will be appreciated.
2013-12-02 at 11:19 #1593pdf24MemberHi,
the online converter supports links, but the PDF24 Creator not. This feature is still on our TODO list.

2014-03-18 at 21:23 #4210PDF24GuestCant embed link in image
Hello...I am using PDF24, but I cannot seem to successfully embed a url link into an image when I create the pdf from a word document. I am using MS Word 2010 on a Windows 7 machine. Thanks for any help you might give me. rkellynyc@gmail.com
2014-03-21 at 10:05 #4211AnonymousGuestIf you use links in word and if you print on the PDF printer then you will loose all your links because the link information can't be given to the printer so that the PDF24 Creator can't handle the links.
If you use www urls as text in your document then the PDDF readers often activate click handlers for thoose links texts.
2014-12-21 at 01:26 #1594user-2201ParticipantIs this still the case? I have PDF'd Word doc with the older version, 6.7.0 and got the links to work. The only problem is that now (not sure what changed) the conversion removes the hyperlinks again. I upgraded to 6.9.2. but it does not seem to have been implemented yet?
2016-06-14 at 01:23 #4478PDF24GuestProblem with links in PDF
If I create a PDF from a word document online the link remains active in the PDF.
If I create a PDF from a word document on my computer with my PDF24 create the link is dead in the PDF.
I always worked fine until I upgraded to the latest PDF24
2022-09-08 at 08:53 #62837Stefan ZieglerKeymasterOffice documents are currently printed on the PDF printer in order to convert the file to PDF. Via this interface, all the metadata such as Hyperlinks are lost. We have two option on our TODO list which targets this issue and we work on that. For know, you can try our Online PDF Converter, here we do not print and here we can keep the hyperlinks.
2024-08-29 at 08:27 #63603ichbinsinactionParticipantHey there, has anything changed on this topic?
I was thinking that if I used the installed PDF24 Creator with the option to only relocate pdf pages (without any compression) that hyperlinks would stay. But equally as connected form fields are renamed (date -> date_1), hyperlinks also disappear.
Are there any settings I could use to prevent that?
2026-10-30 at 20:36 #65441PDF24 SupportModeratorHello,
yes, this has changed: since version 11.8.0, PDF24 no longer prints Word, Excel and PowerPoint files when converting them, but lets Office export the PDF itself. Hyperlinks are kept this way. To do this, drag the Office file into PDF24 Creator or use "Convert to PDF" in the PDF24 Toolbox. Printing from Word to the PDF24 printer still loses the links, because the printer interface does not pass them on.
Word files can also be converted online: https://tools.pdf24.org/en/word-to-pdf
When you delete or rearrange pages in PDF24 Creator, web links on the pages are kept. If your PDF was created by printing, it has no links to begin with. If links disappear in a PDF that has them, please send us such a file with this button:
Form fields: with the next version, forms stay fillable when you delete or rearrange pages in PDF24 Creator. Fields are only renamed if fields with the same name come from different files.
2026-11-02 at 12:39 #66535PDF24 SupportModeratorHello,
an update for today's readers, the answer above is outdated:
- From Word, Excel or PowerPoint: convert the file instead of printing it. Drag it into PDF24 Creator or use "Convert to PDF" in the PDF24 Toolbox. Since version 11.8.0, PDF24 lets Office export the PDF itself, and the hyperlinks are kept. Word files can also be converted online: https://tools.pdf24.org/en/word-to-pdf. Printing to the PDF24 printer still loses the links, because only the appearance of the pages arrives.
- Add a link to an existing PDF: open the PDF in Annotate PDF (https://tools.pdf24.org/en/annotate-pdf), choose the Link tool, draw a box over the text that should be clickable, enter the web address under "URL" and click "Save PDF".
