2023-07-20 at 18:26 #63287Stefan ZieglerKeymasterWith all PDF files or with a specific one? If for a specific one, please send the file to forum@pdf24.org for further investigation.
2023-07-21 at 06:39 #63293akobus823ParticipantHi, it is not about the pdf files. We are not able to start the Reader at all via Launcher or via exe file - pdf24-reader.exe.
It crashes immediately. I was testing both 11.13.1 and 11.13.2 and result is same.
I installed one of the previous versions on my laptop, took the pdf24-reader.exe and replaced the file in the installation of 11.13.1 and then it starts (dirty workaround). It seems to be a problem with Windows Server 2012 (or Server in general).
2023-07-21 at 13:00 #63294akobus823ParticipantAnd apologies, now I see I have started this in a wrong category.
Is is a problem with PDF24 Creator.2023-07-24 at 14:50 #63299akobus823ParticipantAny chance this could be investigated? I can provide more details if needed.
2023-07-24 at 19:44 #63300Stefan ZieglerKeymasterWhich PDF24 Reader version works for you?
Error is caused by NtUserSetWindowsHookEx. Do you have a security application installed which causes this issue?
Is it a plain Windows Server 2012 R2 version or do you have installed any other software which would be problematic here?
2023-07-25 at 06:37 #63301akobus823ParticipantThe one I took .exe file from is pdf24-creator-11.12.1-x64
We do have Trend Micro Deep Security running and it's not been a problem so far.
It is a Windows Server 2012 R2 and we have other SW installed but it's been stable so far.
2023-07-25 at 09:12 #63302akobus823ParticipantIs there specific files in the deployment which should / could be excluded from Deep Scan security? I've got this question from our Security team.
2023-07-25 at 20:59 #63303Stefan ZieglerKeymasterPDF24 Reader changes between the latest version and version 11.12.1 are:
PDFium updated to BRANCH chromium/5846
- Faster text selection
- Jump targets now better visible
- Printing multiple PDFs via command line
- PDF24 Reader now takes into account the DPI of the monitor
Not many changes. Hard to tell which one is causing the problem. Only the PER_MONITOR_DPI_AWARE change affects the start behavior of the reader. Can this be a problem for you?
2023-07-26 at 07:24 #63305akobus823ParticipantHard to tell if this change could cause that. I will try to catch this with some tools to see when exactly it crashes.
