Is it possible to print on a network shared PDF24 printer, without a active user login on the server?
When you log off the server computer your prints from the clients will fail until you login the server computer again.

In the settings you can then enable automatic file save to save the PDF file automatically into a folder.

yes, this works. Set it up on the computer where PDF24 is installed and the printer is shared:
- Use the classic PDF printer for sharing. If your PDF printer is the driverless one, add a classic one in the PDF24 settings under "PDF Printer" with the "+" button and the type "PostScript" (see https://creator.pdf24.org/manual/11/#63-classic-and-driverless-pdf-printers). Share this printer in Windows.
- Open the PDF24 settings as administrator ("Run as administrator" in the settings). Only then the settings apply to all users and the following options are shown.
- Select the shared printer under "PDF Printer", choose "Automatically save documents after printed" and enter the output directory under "Auto Save".
- Tick "Save with the PDF24 Windows Service". Then the PDF24 service saves the files itself, also when nobody is logged in on that computer. The service runs under the system account, so a local folder is best. Alternatively, "Save with the following user" saves with a user who must then be logged in with PDF24 running.
- Restart the computer once after enabling "Save with the PDF24 Windows Service". With the next version this is no longer necessary.
Without these settings, PDF24 hands every print job to the user who printed it, and a user from another computer has no session on the server. That is why the jobs failed when nobody was logged in.
To the question about the owner name: the file name for automatic saving can contain
$owner, the name of the user who printed, e.g.$owner $fileName. -
