I downloaded PDF creator today and after playing around with it for a while, decided it was not for me. Then Word stopped working. I asked control panel to uninstall PDF24 and I got a message that said some elements had to be removed manually, after installing the main app. On trying to delete the PDF24 folder in programme files, I get an error message saying both files (dll files) are being used by another programme - this is one of the Windows 11 system 32 processes. I tried to copy this but it won't copy across. It mentioned something to do with runtime library, and I have been getting an error message about this on the system recently. Help

Word will not now open at all. This only started after I downloaded PDF24 today. It has been working fine. I'm using Windows 11 and MS 365

    Hello,

    sorry for the late answer.

The two DLL files that could not be deleted were still in use by Windows, most likely by the Windows process that shows PDF previews in File Explorer (PDF24 includes such a preview handler). Please restart Windows. After the restart the files are no longer in use, and you can delete the folder C:\Program Files\PDF24 if it is still there. Since version 11.31.0 the uninstaller closes these PDF24 preview processes itself.

If Word still does not start after the restart, please try the repair function of Microsoft Office. If that does not help, please send us a screenshot of the error message with this button:
