PDF24 SupportModerator
Hello,
sorry for the late answer. In the online tools the edited PDF is saved as a download: in Edit PDF, click the save icon (Save PDF) in the toolbar when you are done and confirm with "Save PDF". The new PDF is then downloaded by your browser, usually into your Downloads folder: https://tools.pdf24.org/en/edit-pdf
For forms with fillable fields, Fill out PDF is easier, you can type directly into the fields: https://tools.pdf24.org/en/fill-out-pdf
If saving fails, the editor now shows a message with the reason, for example when a firewall, VPN or a browser extension such as an ad blocker blocks the connection to the PDF24 server.
PDF24 SupportModeratorHello,
the article you found is a news post from 2010. That API was meant for creating PDF files from articles on websites (title, text, author), it could not convert DOC or ODT files, and it is no longer available.
You can convert DOC and ODT files to PDF online in the browser:
On Windows, PDF24 Creator can also convert files to PDF from the command line: https://creator.pdf24.org/manual/11/#11110-convert-to-pdf
PDF24 SupportModeratorHello,
up to the current version, PDF24 converts .msg files by having them printed by the program that is registered in Windows for .msg files. If that no longer works, for example because classic Outlook is no longer registered for .msg files or only the new Outlook is installed, the conversion fails.
With the next version, PDF24 converts .msg files directly via classic Outlook into PDF, without printing. Classic Outlook must be installed for this, the new Outlook does not offer this option. If it does not work via Outlook, PDF24 tries to print the file as before.
Until then you can open the email in Outlook and print it on the PDF24 printer.
2026-10-30 at 17:22 in reply to: PDF printer: custom paper size 80 x 120 mm always comes out as A4 #65356PDF24 SupportModeratorHello,
the easiest way to get a PDF in the page size of your Word document is to convert the Word file instead of printing it: drag the file into PDF24 Creator or use "Convert to PDF" in the PDF24 Toolbox. PDF24 then lets Word export the PDF itself, and the pages keep the size set in the document, for example 80 x 120 mm.
This also works online: https://tools.pdf24.org/en/word-to-pdf
If you want to print: the classic PDF24 printer supports custom paper sizes, including forms created in the print server properties of Windows. The driverless PDF24 printer (Windows 11 24H2 and later) only offers a fixed list of standard sizes; you can add a classic printer in the PDF24 settings. 2026-10-30 at 17:22 in reply to: OCR: Hebrew text reversed when copied in Adobe Acrobat Reader #65354PDF24 SupportModeratorHello,
thank you for the report. The invisible text layer that OCR adds stored words of right-to-left languages such as Hebrew and Arabic in an order that made copying and searching return each word backwards.
This is fixed. The online OCR already writes the text in the correct order: https://tools.pdf24.org/en/ocr-pdf. In PDF24 Creator the fix will come with the next version. Files that were already recognized keep the old text layer; run OCR on them again with the new version.
PDF24 SupportModeratorHello,
your code does not use PDF24:
DoCmd.OutputTo ... acFormatPDFis the PDF export built into Access, so we cannot say why it fails. One thing in the code:On Local Error GoTo EXIT_cmdPDF_Clickjumps straight toExit Subon any error, so the error is never shown. If the error handler points toERR_cmdPDF_Click, you should see the actual error message. With PDF24 Creator you can instead print the report on a PDF24 printer that saves the PDF automatically:
- In the PDF24 settings under "PDF Printer", select the printer (or create a separate one with "Install a PDF printer").
- Choose "Automatically save documents after printed" and set "Output Directory" and "Filename" under "Auto Save".
- Print the report on this printer.
Since version 11.31.0 the report itself can also set the file name: switch on "Recognize control codes in the printed document" for this printer and put a text like
@@fn:Invoice-123@@(for example built from the invoice number) into the report. Description and all codes: https://creator.pdf24.org/manual/11/#62-control-codes-in-printed-documentsPDF24 SupportModeratorHello,
yes, you can do this with PDF24 Reader (part of PDF24 Creator):
- Open the PDF and choose the tool "Snapshot".
- Drag a frame around the question. A menu opens: choose "Save to file" (PNG or JPG) or "Copy to clipboard".
- Repeat this for all questions.
- Put the saved images together into one PDF with "Images to PDF": https://tools.pdf24.org/en/images-to-pdf (the same tool is in the PDF24 Toolbox). With "Page size" set to "Use DPI" each page gets the size of the image.
The snapshot is taken from what you see on the screen, so zoom in first for a sharper result.
If you want several questions on one page, you can arrange the images with "Create photo collage": https://tools.pdf24.org/en/create-photo-collage
PDF24 SupportModeratorHello,
F3 is currently not supported in PDF24 Reader, sorry for our short first answer. Ctrl+F only puts the cursor into the search box.
To jump to the next match, press Enter in the search box again, or click the down arrow button next to the search box. The up arrow button (or Shift+Enter, since version 11.31.0) jumps to the previous match.
Thank you for the suggestion to support F3, we will add it to our list.
PDF24 SupportModeratorHello,
this still works with the command line of the PDF24 DocTool, which is part of PDF24 Creator:
"C:\Program Files\PDF24\pdf24-DocTool.exe" -shellPrint -printerName "PRINTER_NAME" "FILE1.pdf" "FILE2.pdf"Each file is sent to the printer as its own print job, using the print command Windows has for PDF files. Without
-printerNamethe default printer is used.Description in the manual:

for today's readers: when you convert images to PDF, you can choose the page size. Set "Page size" to "Use DPI", then each page gets the size of the image (calculated from its pixel size and the DPI value) instead of a full A4 or Letter page.
This works online with "Images to PDF": https://tools.pdf24.org/en/images-to-pdf
The same tool is also available in the PDF24 Toolbox of PDF24 Creator.
PDF24 SupportModeratorHello,
sorry that this thread remained unanswered for so long.
According to your numbers, switching to printing did help: the January PDF went down from 52.7 MB to 25.4 MB. The remaining difference to December is usually caused by the content, for example more or larger photos in the magazine, since images make up most of the size of such a PDF.
To make the PDF smaller, compress it afterwards with Compress PDF in the PDF24 Toolbox. Lower values for DPI and Image quality give smaller files. This also works online: https://tools.pdf24.org/en/compress-pdf
PDF24 SupportModeratorHello,
yes, since version 11.28.0. In the PDF24 Reader click the More button (⋮) and choose Settings. The settings open on the Reader page. There you can choose the Default zoom when opening a PDF:
- Fit: the whole page is visible
- FitWidth: fit to window width
- FitHeight: fit to window height
With Default, the Reader opens PDFs with the fit mode you used last.
A fixed zoom level in percent cannot be set as default at the moment. Thank you for the suggestion, we will add it to our list.
PDF24 SupportModeratorHello,
sorry that this thread remained unanswered for so long.
In https://tools.pdf24.org/en/edit-pdf it depends on what you want to delete:
- Objects you added yourself (text, images, shapes, drawings in Insert): click the object and press the Del key.
- Existing comments and markups of the PDF (notes, highlights and other annotations): switch to Annotate, click the annotation and press the Del key.
- Existing page content (text and images of the page itself): Editing existing content is in the works and will be released with one of the upcoming versions once it is finished. Until then you can remove it with Redact: choose White as the color and drag a box over the area. The content under the box is removed permanently when saving. This also works with https://tools.pdf24.org/en/redact-pdf
PDF24 SupportModeratorHello,
PDF24 has no watched folder (hot folder) yet, but the command line can compress all files of a folder in one go. Call
pdf24-DocTool.exewith these options:-compressand the compression values-dpi,-imageQualityand, if needed,-colorModel-expandDirsand your input folderC:\Files-to-compressinstead of single files: the folder is replaced by the files in it-includeFileExtensions .pdf, so that only the PDF files of the folder are used-outputDir C:\Files-that-are-compressedfor the output folder. The compressed files get a suffix with the values, e.g._144dpi_75%-silent(since version 11.31.0) for unattended runs from a batch file: no windows are shown, errors are returned as exit code
The options are described here:
- https://creator.pdf24.org/manual/11/#11118-compress-pdf-files
Compressing single files also works online: https://tools.pdf24.org/en/compress-pdf
PDF24 SupportModeratorHello,
PDF24 has no function to remove watermarks from documents of others.
If it is a watermark you added yourself with PDF24 ("Add watermark", also online: https://tools.pdf24.org/en/add-watermark), simply use your original file: the tool saves the result as a new file and leaves the original unchanged.
2026-10-30 at 16:45 in reply to: ProSheets export to PDF24 fails: waiting time exceeds threshold #65338PDF24 SupportModeratorHello,
the message "File is not created ... Waiting time exceeds the allowed threshold limit" and the lines "calling pdf thread" come from ProSheets: ProSheets waits for the PDF file in its temp folder and gives up after a time limit. How ProSheets hands the job to PDF24 and how printers can be selected in Revit 2020 is decided by ProSheets and Revit, so please also ask DiRoots support about this.
On the PDF24 side, please check the following when an export fails:
- Print a sheet from Revit directly to the PDF24 printer, without ProSheets. Is a PDF created?
- Open the print queue of the PDF24 printer in Windows. If a job is stuck there, it blocks all following jobs; delete it.
- The PDF24 service (
pdf24) must be running, it receives the print jobs.
These points are described in the manual: https://creator.pdf24.org/manual/11/#131-the-pdf-printer-is-not-working-properly-print-jobs-are-stuck-in-the-print-queue-what-to-do
2026-10-30 at 16:45 in reply to: PDF OCR: extracted text of the searchable PDF has doubled letters #65339PDF24 SupportModeratorHello,
sorry that this thread remained unanswered for so long.
Doubled letters like "Humaannss" usually mean that the text is in the PDF twice, at almost the same position. A text extraction tool then mixes the two copies letter by letter. This can happen, for example, if the PDF already had a text layer and the OCR was run with Force OCR: the new text layer is added on top of the old one.
Did you use Force OCR, or was the source PDF processed with OCR before? And which tool did you use to extract the text, e.g. https://tools.pdf24.org/en/pdf-to-text?
So that we can reproduce this, please send us a file where it happens with this button:
Ideally the source PDF before OCR and the searchable PDF.
PDF24 SupportModeratorHello,
up to the current version, PDF24 converts .msg files by having them printed by the program that is registered in Windows for .msg files. The message in your screenshot appears when this does not work, for example if classic Outlook is no longer registered for .msg files or if only the new Outlook is installed.
With the next version, PDF24 converts .msg files directly via classic Outlook into PDF, without printing. Classic Outlook must be installed for this, the new Outlook does not offer this option. If it does not work via Outlook, PDF24 tries to print the file as before.
PDF24 SupportModeratorHello,
please check the tabs at the bottom of the Excel window: the converter puts the content on several worksheets, so the other pages may be on the other worksheets.
How it works today:
- Online (https://tools.pdf24.org/en/pdf-to-excel): by default one worksheet per table, a table that runs over several pages becomes one worksheet. With the option "One sheet per page", each PDF page gets a worksheet of its own.
- PDF24 Creator (Toolbox, "Convert from PDF"): since version 11.31.0 also one worksheet per table. The option to choose one worksheet per page will come with the next version.
If pages are still missing with the current version, so that we can reproduce this, please send us a file where it happens with this button:
PDF24 SupportModeratorHello,
other users report the same here: https://help.pdf24.org/en/?p=63641. We do not know the cause yet, it only happens on some computers, so we need data from an affected computer.
- Please first update to the current version and check whether it still happens: https://tools.pdf24.org/en/creator
- If the Assistant still closes right away, please tell us your PDF24 version and Windows version and send us:
- an export of the registry key
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PDF24(in regedit: right-click the key > Export), - if Windows has logged the crash: the entry "Application Error" for
pdf24-Assistant.exein the Event Viewer under Windows Logs > Application (a screenshot is fine).
So that we can find the cause, please send us these files with this button:
2026-10-30 at 15:54 in reply to: Blacken PDF: mark proposed redactions for review before applying #65326PDF24 SupportModeratorHello,
the Blacken PDF / Redact PDF tool has no draft mode: what you mark there is removed when you save, and the boxes can only be black or white.
For proposed redactions you can mark the areas with comments first, for example red rectangles in Annotate PDF: https://tools.pdf24.org/en/annotate-pdf. Comments do not change the content underneath, so the file can be sent for approval. When the redactions are approved, redact these areas: https://tools.pdf24.org/en/redact-pdf
A real draft mode for redactions: thank you for the suggestion, we will add it to our list.
2026-10-30 at 15:54 in reply to: PDF printer: stop the window coming to the front with every print job #65322PDF24 SupportModeratorHello,
the window that comes to the front is the PDF24 Assistant (or the PDF24 Creator, if your PDF printer opens the Creator). You can switch this off in the PDF24 settings, for example with the link "Settings" at the bottom of the PDF24 Assistant:
- PDF24 Assistant: on the page "Assistant", uncheck "Bring window to foreground when a new file is added".
- PDF24 Creator: on the page "Features", uncheck "Delayed bring to front on new files".
Then click "Ok". The new files are still added to the list, but the window stays in the background.
2026-10-30 at 15:54 in reply to: Watermark: tile over the whole page, preview and several watermarks #65324PDF24 SupportModeratorHello,
repeating the watermark over the whole page is possible since version 11.27.0: in the PDF24 Toolbox under "Add watermark", choose the position "Fill page". This also works online: https://tools.pdf24.org/en/add-watermark
A live preview is available in the online PDF editor: https://tools.pdf24.org/en/edit-pdf. Choose the mode "Add watermark" there, the watermark is shown on the pages while you change the text, position, angle, color, opacity and size (for the whole page, choose the position "Tiled"). It adds one watermark per save.
A preview in the Toolbox and several watermarks in one go: thank you for the suggestion, we will add it to our list.
PDF24 SupportModeratorHello,
sorry for the late reply. In the PDF24 Toolbox, Save asks for a folder when there are several results and saves every file there under its original name. Existing files are never overwritten: if a file with the same name already exists in that folder (for example the original files, because the folder dialog opens in their folder), PDF24 adds " (1)" to the name.
So if you select another, empty folder, all protected files keep their original names. Replacing the original files directly is not possible at the moment; this is on our to-do list.
Protecting PDFs also works online: https://tools.pdf24.org/en/lock-pdf
PDF24 SupportModeratorHello,
sorry for the late reply. If you mean the file name of the PDF: PDF24 cannot read the sheet number from Revit itself, but you can let a dedicated PDF24 printer save the PDFs automatically and control the name.
- In the PDF24 Settings open PDF Printer, add a printer with Install a PDF printer (e.g. "PDF24 Revit") or select an existing one.
- Under PDF Printer Tool choose Automatically save documents after printed and under Auto Save set the Output Directory and the Filename.
$fileNamein the file name is the name of the print job that Revit sends; the default is%Y-%m-%d %H-%M-%S $fileName.
If the print job name does not contain the sheet number and name, you can set the file name per sheet with control codes (since version 11.31.0). Enable Recognize control codes in the printed document for this printer and put a text like this on the sheet, for example in the title block next to the sheet number and name:
@@fn:A101 - Ground Floor@@PDF24 reads the code after printing, removes it from the PDF and saves the file as
A101 - Ground Floor.pdf. This only works if Revit sends the text to the printer as real text and not as graphics - please try it with one sheet first.Description in the manual:
https://creator.pdf24.org/manual/11/#62-control-codes-in-printed-documentsPDF24 SupportModeratorHello,
sorry for the late reply. This has been fixed since version 11.28.0: the installer now remembers the default printer and restores it after the installation. If the PDF24 printer was the default printer before an update, it stays the default printer. Please update to the current version.
If it still happens with the current version, please let us know your PDF24 version and your Windows version.
PDF24 SupportModeratorHello,
sorry for the late reply. The Ghostscript included in PDF24 is a private copy: PDF24 installs it in the subfolder
gsof its program folder, uses it only itself and updates or removes it together with PDF24. It is therefore not registered as a system-wide Ghostscript installation, and the keyHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\GPL Ghostscript\<version>is not created. If another program needs Ghostscript, please install Ghostscript with its own installer: https://ghostscript.com/releases/gsdnld.html
Since version 11.31.0, PDF24 can use such an installed Ghostscript as well. In the PDF24 Settings on the page Components you can set Ghostscript to Installed system version. You can also deselect the bundled Ghostscript in the PDF24 installer; with the setting Automatic PDF24 then uses the installed version. This way only one copy of Ghostscript is on your PC.
PDF24 SupportModeratorHello,
sorry for the late reply. The PDF24 Assistant has no keyboard shortcuts for Join files and Save as PDF, and its file list cannot be controlled from the command line (a command
pdf24-assistant --mergedoes not exist). Keyboard shortcuts in the Assistant are on our to-do list. For a repetitive task like yours, you can do it without the Assistant: let the PDF printer save the files automatically into a folder and then join this folder with the command line.
- In the PDF24 Settings open PDF Printer. If you still want the Assistant for your normal printing, first add a second printer with Install a PDF printer (e.g. "PDF24 Join") and select it.
- Under PDF Printer Tool choose Automatically save documents after printed and under Auto Save set the Output Directory, e.g.
C:\Join\in. The default file name starts with the date and time, so the files are sorted in the order they were printed. - Print your documents to this printer, then run:
"C:\Program Files\PDF24\pdf24-DocTool.exe" -join -profile special/justAssemble -sort -expandDirs -includeFileExtensions .pdf -outputFile "C:\Join\output.pdf" "C:\Join\in"-expandDirstakes all files of the folder,-includeFileExtensions .pdfonly the PDF files,-sortsorts them by name and-profile special/justAssembleonly joins the files without showing a dialog. Afterwards empty the folderC:\Join\in, so that the next run only joins the new files. The command line options are described in the manual:
https://creator.pdf24.org/manual/11/#1115-join-input-files-and-create-an-output-pdf-file
https://creator.pdf24.org/manual/11/#1111-general-format-and-optionsJoining also works online: https://tools.pdf24.org/en/merge-pdf
PDF24 SupportModeratorHello,
sorry for the late reply. PDF24 Creator can create PDF/X-3 files (other PDF/X versions such as PDF/X-4 are not available):
- Open the image in the PDF24 Creator, for example by dragging it into the window (in the PDF24 Toolbox: Open PDF24 Creator). Alternatively print the image on the PDF24 printer, then the PDF24 Assistant opens.
- Click Save as... and select the format PDF.
- Set PDF standard to PDF/X-3.
- On the page PDF/X you can enter a Title and select the Printing condition your print shop requires (or Custom with your own ICC profile). Then save the file.
2026-10-30 at 15:54 in reply to: Printed email from Windows Live Mail is squeezed horizontally (PDF24 9.13) #65309PDF24 SupportModeratorHello,
sorry for the late answer. Version 9 of PDF24 Creator is being discontinued and will not get further fixes. The current version 11 requires at least Windows 10: https://tools.pdf24.org/en/creator
If the problem also occurs with version 11 on Windows 10 or 11, please let us know here which program you print from. So that we can reproduce this, please send us a file where it happens with this button:
