Do you mean the icon in Windows Explorer? You can change the default application for the PDF files type in Windows and this changes the icon. The icon comes from the default application. If Chrome is used as default application for PDF files, then the chrome icon is shown in Windows explorer. If you install PDF24 Creator, then you can use the PDF24 Reader as default app for Windows and then you will get the PDF icon from PDF24.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterThe next versions 11.20.0 and 9.10.0 have this option in the settings interface. This allows you to easily configure whether PDF files should be opened in a new window or in a new tab.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterPlease send such a Word file to forum@pdf24.org so that we can investigate further. If there is an issue, then we can fix it permanently.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterHi, this feature is still on our TODO list and will be added soon. It think it will not be part of the next version but for the next version this could be a feasible feature.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterPlease send me the pdfPrnInst.log file to forum@pdf24.org so that I can analyze this log file. Thanks.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterWhich popup do you mean? File selection UI?
-outPutFile should be -outputFile
-join -profile -compress ""default/good"" seems to be wrong too. -join command syntax is like this:
pdf24-DocTool.exe -join [-sort] [-bookmarks bookmarksCmd] [-profile profileId] [-outputDir dir] [-outputFile file] file1 [file2] ...
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterDark mode is currently not supported. This is still on our TODO and we are a bit behind our plans. The problem is that we are waiting for a new version of a third-party component with which we can then use dark mode. As soon an the new version is there we will start adding dark mode.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterI've tested with the example file. In the console you can see the following GS output:
Detected SMask which must be in DeviceGray, but we are not converting to DeviceGray, reverting to normal PDF output
So a solution would be to do a color conversion which you can do with the color option in the toolbox when you convert to PDF/A. You have to choose Gray in order to to get it done.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterSecure PDF means the following:
Render each page of the original PDF to an image. Create a new PDF and embed just these images. This removes active element and scripts from the PDF files.Stefan ZieglerKeymasterSorry, it is the "Convert PDF to ..." tool, not the "Convert to PDF" tool
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterThe toolbox has such an option, just use the "Convert PDF to ..." tool. PDF/A is also available in the output profiles which you can use when you save a PDF via the creator or assistant.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterPlease send me example image files and an example PDF files to forum@pdf24.org so that I can have a look into it. Please also tell me how you created the PDF.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterCan you please merge files again and send me the URL that you see in the screenshot above to forum@pdf24.org? After the error message, please send it right away so I can take a look at the log data, which is only available for a short time. It is strange that you see this error message and I would like to investigate.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterHow exactly do you do it? Please describe step by step what you do.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterHi, currently this can not be configured by the user, but the next version of the software brings such an option to the PDF24 Reader.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterOne reason for this could be a corrupt file. Could you send the file to forum@pdf24.org so that we can have a quick look at it?
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterFrom which location do you use pdf24. I think that this has something to do with the connection from your location to our servers located in Germany.
A traceroute command would help to find out where it hangs.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterIf you have create a profile for one user, you can find it here:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PDF24\Profiles\fo\XXXX
You can then export and import it to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\PDF24\Profiles\fo\XXXX
This makes it available to all users.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterWhat immediately strikes me here is the following:
Error:warning: ignoring zlib error: incorrect data check
Seems that some data objects have deflate encoding issues..
can you send me such a file to forum@pdf24.org?
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterThe next version brings a fix for that. The next version will be released in 1 or 2 weeks. The real problem is that the "SegoeUI,Bold" is not a valid postscript name. It should be "SegoeUI-Bold". If you use the correct postscript name of the font, then GhostScript will find it. The next version that we release tries different variant when font names are compared, so that "SegoeUI-Bold" and "SegoeUI,Bold" would match.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterCurrently not. What key combination would you recommend?
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterHi, currently not possible, but we have such a feature request on our list and we will add a default settings section soon. If you use PDF24 Creator, you could create an output profile with the settings you want and then you can apply that profile to existing files. That's actually the fastest mode to add a watermark. If you have a profile created, right-click any file and choose PDF24 from context menu and then the apply profile option and then click your watermark profile. This will then add the watermark and you'll get a new file in your Windows file explorer.
2024-05-16 at 08:01 in reply to: PDF to Word: text ends up as a picture with an anchor symbol #63489Stefan ZieglerKeymasterI think you have to go into edit mode in word and then this should go away..
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterPlease send me the PDF file to forum@pdf24.org so that I can have a look what happens internally.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterYes, but please update your PDF24 Creator because the newer versions of PDF24 Reader have a layer feature.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterThe error message shows that there is a font issue. Can you send me the file to forum@pdf24.org so that I can take a closer look at it?
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterHi, this is currently not possible, but we have such a feature on our TODO list. At the moment I can't say when this feature will be available, but it sounds like an important feature to me.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterI think it's not the detection itself. Please right-Click the line, it there an menu entry to show the error message? You can also send me a test file to forum@pdf24.org so that I can have a look to see what happens internally.

4.8. Registry settings related to PDF24 Toolbox
You have to set the following DWORD value in the windows registry: feature.toolbox.createJobApplication = 0
Please also read 4. Registry Settings to see where to set this value.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterYou have to choose a font that supports Chinese characters.
