The OCR tool can be invoked from command line. Please have a look at the manual, there you will find a description of how to do it: PDF24 Creator Manual
2021-10-06 at 14:26 in reply to: Limit or estimate the size of a PDF created via the command line #60589Stefan ZieglerKeymasterYou could use another profile with better/lower DPI and JPG quality option. You can open the profile manager and there you can create custom profiles which you then can use on command line via "user/XXXXX".
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterHave a look at the manual of the pdf24 creator, there we describe how to install OCR language files locally.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterThe installer is required because of the PDF printer. The PDF printer is a central part of the software and without PDF printer, the software can't do some of the nice features which makes working with the software so convenient.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterNext version brings some more fixes to the OCR tool. The new version will be released next week. Then we will see whether your problems are solved. If not, you can get back to us again. Sample file are also very helpful which can be sent to forum@pdf24.org so that we can do some testing.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterIsn't it better to use the Blacken PDF tool here? There the modified page is rendered to an image and the image is replaced with the original page contents. This way, no one can read/see the content below.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterPlease send the documents and a short list of instructions to forum@pdf24.org so that I can try to reproduce this.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterThere is a command line to start the Screen Capture tool. Please have a look at the manual. There you can find a description of the command you need:
https://creator.pdf24.org/manual/10/#pdf24-doctoolexe
Basically you have to use the following command to start capture of user defined area:
pdf24-DocTool.exe -mode userDefinedArea -target clipboard "<screen>"This command would start the screen capture tool and stores the captured image into the clipboard. There are several other options documented in the manual.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterPlease send me the original PDF file to forum@pdf24.org so that I can check that. Please also add the link to this site, so that I have the context of the issue.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterI think that the file is converted as text, but there is still a background image involved in the file but you should also be able to select and copy the text
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterYes, please read the manual carefully: https://creator.pdf24.org/manual/10/#pdf24-doctoolexe
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterHi, the pdf24.org Domains already has an SPF record. Can be checked with the following command:
dig pdf24.org txt
2021-01-11 at 14:56 in reply to: Why does OCR'ing and converting to DOCX leave the DOCX file as images? #60432Stefan ZieglerKeymasterOCR adds a text layer to the PDF file. If the PDF only contains images, then conversion to Word creates a Word file with that images. OCR does not detect content of the images and creates a new PDF based on that detected content.
2021-01-07 at 14:16 in reply to: Is there a way to disable PDF24 backend from running on Windows 10 startup? #60429Stefan ZieglerKeymasterNo, because without the backend, the PDF printer will not work. You can disable the autostart manually by removing the registry key, but then, as I said, the PDF printer will not work and you have to restart the backend or one of the frontent applications of PDF24
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterNo. Arguments are now documented here:
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterYes, please read the manual: https://creator.pdf24.org/manual/10/#registry-settings
2020-11-19 at 09:23 in reply to: Error loading TWAIN driver when importing from scanner or camera #60391Stefan ZieglerKeymasterPlease use version 9.2.2 until we have fixed the known TWAIN issues with PDF24 Creator 10. TWAIN fixes will come with version 10.0.3.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterGPL Ghostscript is a separate program. We use it via command line interface. The PDF24 installer delivers GPL Ghostscript to make it convenient for the user, so that the user does not have to install the software manually.
GPL permits to create aggregates:
"An aggregate consists of a number of separate programs, distributed together on the same CD-ROM or other media. The GPL permits you to create and distribute an aggregate, even when the licenses of the other software are nonfree or GPL-incompatible."
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterStill not available in the pdf24 creator. Feature is in our TODO list, but the problem is still not solved.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterHello, please use the command line interface of the pdf24-doctool.exe
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterOpen the HTML file in your Browser and then print on the PDF24 PDF printer in order to convert files to PDF.
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterSolution: Please install the current PDF24 Creator 9.2.0 to solve the problem.

Stefan ZieglerKeymasterWhat happens, when you drag a page? Do you see the insert position visualization?
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterThe profile selection view is only displayed when a file is to be saved to disk. Moving pages from one file to another should not show this window. What happens, when you drag a page with the mouse into the area of another file? Normally, the insert position is shown visually. Is this the case? If not: what happens, when you move the mouse around? Do you see any visual effect?
2020-03-28 at 13:52 in reply to: Black-and-white (1-bit) color model for TIFF to PDF/A conversion #60216Stefan ZieglerKeymasterHmm, the PDF24 Creator can not do this. Our special online tool can do this: https://tools.pdf24.org/en/tiff-to-pdf
Stefan ZieglerKeymasterMAPI or outlook OLE should work here. Many users do this and for most of them it works well.
